Modi Govt Challenges Telangana for Urban Projects
The central government has announced a big fund called the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) to help states build better cities.
Telangana, which has been doing well in urban projects, is being challenged to use this fund.
The state has many big projects like fixing the sewerage system, bringing water from the Godavari river, and cleaning up lakes.
The government thinks these projects are good enough to get money from the UCF.
They have already found private partners and funding for some of these projects, which makes them strong candidates for the fund.
The Modi government announced a ₹1 lakh crore annual Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) for five years.
Telangana is a frontrunner for UCF due to its successful hybrid annuity model (HAM) projects.
The state has proposed projects worth ₹40,000 crore, including a ₹17,000 crore sewerage network overhaul.
Telangana has secured funding and private partners for projects like the Godavari water supply and Musi rejuvenation.
The state is well-prepared to pitch for UCF money, meeting key conditions like bankability and private partnership.
