Dhurandhar Breaks Records Despite Middle-East Ban
Dhurandhar, a movie starring Ranveer Singh, has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India, making over Rs 766.90 crore in 27 days.
It has also made over Rs 1095.50 crore worldwide, becoming the seventh highest-grossing Indian film ever.
However, the film was banned in several Middle-Eastern countries, which resulted in a financial loss of at least USD 10 million.
The film's distributor believes that the ban was a significant setback, but the film has still found its audience elsewhere.
A revised version of the film was released on January 1, 2026, with two words muted and one dialogue changed.
A sequel to the film is scheduled for release in March 2026, and it is set to clash with another big film, Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups.
Dhurandhar has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film in India, surpassing Jawan's Rs 640.25 crore, with a domestic collection of Rs 766.90 crore and a worldwide collection of Rs 1095.50 crore in 27 days.
The film is the second highest-grossing Hindi film domestically after Pushpa 2: The Rule and the highest-grossing Hindi film worldwide after Dangal.
Dhurandhar was banned in key Gulf markets including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Pakistan, resulting in an estimated financial loss of USD 10 million.
The film's distributor, Parnab Kapadia, believes the ban was a significant setback but respects the views and regulations of the Middle-Eastern authorities.
A sequel to Dhurandhar is scheduled for a theatrical release on 19 March, 2026, and is set to clash with Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups.
