Large-scale protests over teacher recruitment shake Andhra Pradesh

In the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, many young people wanted jobs as government school teachers.

The state announced a big test for more than 16,000 teaching jobs, and around 336,000 people applied.

After the exams, many people said the process was not fair.

They said the people making the question papers were outside workers and that some names disappeared from the winner lists.

They also said some sportspersons got teacher jobs without taking the test at all.

Upset job seekers took to the streets to protest.

A political party called the YSR Congress Party is supporting them and wants a big investigation and the education minister to quit.

The government says everything was done fairly and safely using computers.

It says the sports quota is allowed by law.

Now, courts are handling many cases about the recruitment, and people are waiting to see what happens.
