Vadodara Officers Protest Political Interference
Some important officers in Vadodara, India, decided to take two days off from work to protest.
They said that elected leaders were making their jobs very hard by pressuring them, using bad language, and even sometimes hurting them.
The officers feel that the elected leaders are interfering too much in their work and causing a lot of stress.
They also said that the leaders are trying to get attention by making the officers look bad in the news.
The officers want the leaders to stop treating them this way and to follow the rules.
The leaders, however, say that the protest is not against them but against some local media that has been saying bad things about the officers.
About 40 Class-I officers of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) went on a two-day mass casual leave to protest against political interference and mental stress.
The officers alleged that elected corporators were disregarding hierarchy, misbehaving with officers, and causing mental stress through pressure and negative publicity.
The protest was seen as a fallout of the ongoing tug of war between the elected representatives and the administrative department.
The officers claimed that the political wing has been miffed about the administrative department organizing events for 'Urban Year' celebrations.
A senior BJP leader stated that the protest was not against the party but against certain factions of the local media.
