India Approves Revised ₹1,925 Crore for Ladakh Power Project
Imagine the government is building bigger and better power lines in a place called Ladakh!
They've decided to spend about 1,925 crore rupees on this.
This money will help build new power lines to bring electricity to the areas of Nubra and Zanskar.
Right now, they use noisy diesel generators for power, but these new lines will let them switch to cleaner, more reliable electricity.
This project has been planned since 2015 and is now expected to be done by October 2026.
The government had to approve the project and make sure everything was set up.
This makes it possible for people in the area to have consistent electricity.
Government approved a revised cost of ₹1,925.28 crore for the Nubra and Zanskar transmission project.
The project aims to strengthen power infrastructure in Ladakh.
RECPDCL is implementing the project, and POWERGRID is providing project management.
The project involves 220 KV transmission lines and grid stations.
Completion is expected by October 2026, enabling the phasing out of diesel generators.
