West Bengal industrial policy to prioritise ancillary-friendly sectors

West Bengal industrial policy to prioritise ancillary-friendly sectors

The government of West Bengal, a state in India, is writing a new plan for businesses in the state.

This plan is called an industrial policy.

The government wants to invite big companies that need lots of small helper businesses around them.

Small businesses that help bigger ones are called ancillary industries.

For example, a car factory might use smaller companies that make car parts.

The government has picked a few favourite types of businesses, like clothes, steel, electrical machines, cars, and computers.

When a big company comes, it can also create jobs at the smaller helper businesses.

This way, more people can find work.

The government is having a meeting on August 11 with business leaders to get their ideas.

It also wants to help the tea, timber, and tourism businesses in the northern part of the state.
