17 Quacks Arrested in Assam District Amidst Crackdown on Fake Doctors
In a district in Assam called Cachar, the police are trying to stop people from pretending to be doctors when they aren't.
They have caught 17 fake doctors and people who were acting like doctors without a license since August.
The police caught two more in just the last couple of days.
One person was caught while giving medicine at a pharmacy, and another was prescribing medicine even though they had no medical papers.
The police want people to help by calling a special number if they know of any other fake doctors.
They say they will keep looking for more fakes because they have more information.
Assam Police in Cachar district have arrested 17 individuals suspected of practising as fake doctors since August.
Two recent arrests include Supal Roy and Indrajit Roy, who allegedly practised without medical certification.
Operations have been intensified with police catching individuals red-handed while practising or prescribing medicine.
A dedicated phone line (6026903329) has been established for the public to report information on fake doctors.
