Iran Threatens Gulf Energy Facilities If US Launches New Strikes

Iran Threatens Gulf Energy Facilities If US Launches New Strikes

Iran is worried that the United States might attack it, so it sent a warning to its neighbors.

Iran told the Gulf countries that if America attacks Iran, Iran will fight back.

It said it could attack the places that make energy, like oil fields and power plants.

Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, called leaders in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and Pakistan to deliver the message.

Iran hopes these countries will convince President Trump not to attack.

Saudi Arabia's crown prince asked Mr. Trump to choose talking instead of fighting.

On August 2, Mr. Trump said he would cancel the attack if a deal could be made quickly.

Saudi Arabia also said it would defend itself if it were attacked.

Iran reminded everyone of an attack in 2019 that hurt Saudi Arabia's oil production to show how serious this could be.

Everyone wants to avoid a bigger war in the region.
