Odisha Panchayat Elections Likely in January-February 2025
The Odisha State Election Commission (SEC) has announced that elections for local government bodies called panchayats will likely happen in January and February 2025.
The current panchayats' term is ending soon, so new elections are needed.
The SEC is preparing by checking voter lists, making sure polling places are easy to reach, and talking to local officials.
They will do a door-to-door survey to update voter information, which should be done by March 2024, but might take longer because of census work.
The SEC wants polling stations to be as close as possible to where people live, especially in rural areas.
They are also meeting with district officials to plan and solve any problems.
This process is starting now to make sure the elections go smoothly.
Odisha's panchayat elections are likely to be held in January-February 2025 as the current tenure expires.
The State Election Commission (SEC) is preparing by conducting a door-to-door voter survey to update electoral rolls.
The survey is expected to be completed by March 2024, but may be extended due to census activities.
The SEC is consulting with district administrations to assess logistical preparedness and streamline coordination.
The primary objective is to ensure polling stations are conveniently located, especially in rural and remote areas.
