J&K Assembly Sees NC-BJP Clash Over Tariffs, Workers’ Issues

J&K Assembly Sees NC-BJP Clash Over Tariffs, Workers’ Issues

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly began a new session in Srinagar.

BJP lawmakers brought posters and raised concerns about workers and electricity bills.

They wanted better treatment for National Health Mission employees and regular jobs for daily-wage workers.

They also asked the government to cancel the higher power tariff.

Members of the ruling National Conference shouted slogans against the BJP.

The Speaker asked that the protest not be included in the official record or news reports.

The Assembly also remembered three former legislators who had died.

After a short silence, lawmakers continued with government work instead of ending the day.

This was a change from the Assembly’s older practice.
