Faridabad Society's Crore-Rupee Homes Wait Two Decades for Water

Nearly 500 families in a Faridabad housing society have been waiting for a regular water connection for about 20 years.

The society’s borewells gradually stopped providing enough water.

Families now buy water from private tankers.

In the hottest months, residents say as many as 90 to 100 tankers arrive each day.

This has made living in the society expensive and difficult.

Residents complained to government officials and then approached the Haryana Human Rights Commission.

The commission ordered government agencies to provide free tanker water until a permanent system is built.

The builder says the wider area also has a water shortage and denies intentionally neglecting the society.
