Amazon Cuts 370 Jobs in Luxembourg
Amazon is letting go of 370 workers in Luxembourg, which is 8.5% of its workforce there.
This is a big deal because Luxembourg is a small country, and finding new jobs might be tough, especially for foreign workers like those from India.
They have to find a new job within three months or go back home.
Amazon says these cuts are to focus on important areas like artificial intelligence.
The last time so many people lost their jobs in Luxembourg was in 2006.
Some people think Amazon should have avoided these layoffs, and they're also talking about the special tax deals Amazon gets in Luxembourg.
Amazon is cutting 370 jobs at its Luxembourg headquarters, the largest layoff in the country in over 20 years.
The layoffs represent 8.5% of Amazon's 4,370-strong workforce in Luxembourg.
Software developers are expected to be most affected as Amazon shifts focus to AI for coding tasks.
Originally, Amazon planned to cut 470 roles, but negotiations reduced this number to 370.
Amazon will continue to be the fifth-largest employer in Luxembourg despite the layoffs.
