Telangana Announces Second Special TGTET for In-Service Teachers
Telangana is holding another special teacher eligibility test for teachers already working in schools.
Teachers can apply between October 7 and 16.
The computer-based test will take place from November 16 to 21.
Hall tickets will be available from November 9.
The results should be released between December 9 and 11.
Passing this test can help teachers keep their current jobs or qualify for promotions.
It cannot be used by people seeking new teaching jobs through direct recruitment.
Teachers’ unions want some exemptions and changes because many experienced teachers find the current test difficult.
Telangana will accept applications for its second special TGTET from October 7 to 16.

Court and Testing Requirement
TET exemption
Teachers’ Unions
Teachers’ unions say it is regrettable that in-service teachers were denied exemption and seek an amendment to Section 23 of the Right to Education Act, particularly for teachers appointed before TET became mandatory.
Court and Testing Requirement
The Supreme Court ruled that eligible in-service teachers covered by the Right to Education Act must qualify TET to continue in service, and that TET is compulsory for promotion.
Test difficulty and format
Teachers’ Unions
The Telangana State United Teachers’ Federation says senior teachers are struggling with the current syllabus and computer-based examination, and has requested subject-wise papers, lower qualifying marks, and service weightage.
Court and Testing Requirement
The state is conducting special computer-based tests for in-service teachers in line with the court’s direction that states conduct TET periodically, preferably twice a year.
Time allowed to qualify
Teachers’ Unions
Unions continue to seek relief from the qualification requirement for affected serving teachers.

The Supreme Court rejected review petitions on May 29, 2026, but extended the deadline for qualifying from August 31, 2027, to August 31, 2028; certain pre-RTE teachers with fewer than five years left before retirement as of September 1, 2025, may continue until retirement without TET but must pass it for promotion.
