Santosh Mitra Square Puja Brings Vande Mataram to Centre Stage
Santosh Mitra Square in Kolkata is preparing a special Durga Puja pandal.
Its theme is the song Vande Mataram, which is marking 150 years.
The pandal will be shaped like a map of India.
It will show pictures and scenes about the Partition of 1947, when many people had to leave their homes.
A train display will help visitors imagine those journeys.
Statues will remember freedom fighters, and the Red Fort will also be shown.
The pandal will have a new light and sound show for the first time.
About 180 workers have spent nearly three months building it.
Santosh Mitra Square chose Vande Mataram as the theme for its 91st Durga Puja, marking the song’s 150th anniversary.
The pandal is designed in the shape of India and will display Partition-era photographs and scenes of migration in 1947.
A train installation will depict people forced to leave their homes during Partition, while the Red Fort will also feature.
Statues will honour freedom fighters Khudiram Bose and Matangini Hazra, alongside a Kolkata tribute featuring Syama Prasad Mukherjee.
The nearly three-month project involves about 180 workers and will include the venue’s first light and sound show.
