Delhi Creates Artificial Ponds to Curb Yamuna Pollution
The Delhi government is building 80 artificial ponds for religious festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Puja.
These ponds are for people to put their idols into instead of the Yamuna River.
This is because the idols and decorations pollute the river.
The government will clean and reuse the water from the ponds.
This is to help keep the Yamuna clean and make the festivals more environmentally friendly.
Delhi is constructing 80 artificial ponds for idol immersion during Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Puja.
The initiative aims to reduce pollution in the Yamuna River caused by traditional idol immersions.
Pond locations were decided after consultations with local community representatives.
The Delhi Jal Board and Irrigation/Flood Control Department are managing the project.
Water from the ponds will be treated and reused after the festivals.
