Jharkhand Partners With Academic Institutions to Improve Water Services

Jharkhand wants colleges and universities to help improve drinking-water services.

The state’s Drinking Water and Sanitation Department plans to sign agreements with three institutions.

These include IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, Ranchi University and Nirmala College, Ranchi.

The institutions may help find leaks in water pipelines.

They may also help design, operate and maintain water-supply systems.

Researchers will study iron, fluoride and dissolved solids in water.

The state will examine how environmental damage affects water sources.

Mining areas such as Dhanbad and Jharia will receive special attention.

The goal is to provide people with cleaner and more reliable drinking water.
