Punjab Elections Revisit Persistent Drugs, Jobs and Debt Crisis

Punjab Elections Revisit Persistent Drugs, Jobs and Debt Crisis

Punjab has changed its political leaders several times, but many problems have stayed the same.

These problems include drugs, too few jobs, migration, farm difficulties and government debt.

In 2007, voters were unhappy with the Congress government.

In 2012, they gave Prakash Singh Badal and the SAD-BJP alliance another chance.

By 2017, the drug crisis and sacrilege incidents had become major election issues.

Captain Amarinder Singh promised to defeat the drug mafia quickly, but the problem continued.

In 2022, voters chose the Aam Aadmi Party because they wanted big change.

The next election will show whether people think that change has actually improved their lives.
