UK Probe Into Microsoft 365 Pricing Misleading Claims
The UK’s competition watchdog, the CMA, is looking into whether Microsoft tricked people into paying more for its Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans.
The problem is about a new AI helper called Copilot.
Some customers were told Copilot was free, but later they saw higher prices when they renewed.
The CMA wants to know if customers got clear information before buying.
Microsoft says it is reviewing the claims.
Other countries are also checking Microsoft, and a lawsuit in the US says Microsoft misled investors about its AI progress.
UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is launching a probe into Microsoft over possible misleading marketing of Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans.
The investigation focuses on the addition of the AI assistant Copilot, which was initially offered free but later appeared in higher‑priced renewal plans.
CMA will examine whether customers received clear information about plan differences and costs before deciding.
Microsoft has said it is reviewing the CMA’s claims in detail.
Similar investigations are underway in Australia, Italy, and a class‑action lawsuit in the US alleges Microsoft misled investors about AI progress.
