Gerard Piqué invests in Global Chess League's American Gambits franchise

Gerard Piqué is a famous football player from Spain who won the World Cup.

He is now putting money into a chess team called the American Gambits.

The team plays in a big competition called the Global Chess League.

Piqué says he has always loved chess and wants to help the sport grow.

He is now a 'strategic shareholder' in the team.

Piqué is not the only football star who likes chess.

Erling Haaland, a football player from Norway, also invested in chess a few months ago.

The American Gambits team will play a tournament in Bengaluru, India, in September.

The team has many strong chess players from around the world.
