IGZP Welcomes Animals from Birsa Zoo
The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam recently welcomed new animals from the Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
This exchange included a Himalayan black bear, a gharial, spotted doves, and a silver pheasant.
In return, the Visakhapatnam zoo sent several other animals to Ranchi.
The new animals will be displayed to visitors after a quarantine period.
This exchange helps both zoos to have more diverse animal collections, making them more interesting for visitors.
The Himalayan black bear is especially important because it will help the zoo have a pair of bears, which is good for their breeding program.
Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam received animals from Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park (BBBP) in Ranchi as part of an exchange programme.
Animals received include Himalayan Black Bear, Gharial, Spotted Dove, and Silver Pheasant.
Animals sent to BBBP include Asiatic wild dog, Bengal monitor lizard, black swan, wild boar, barn owl, grey pelican, and alexandrine parakeet.
The new animals will be displayed to visitors after completing the quarantine period.
The exchange aims to enhance the animal collection and visitor attraction at IGZP.
