India and Philippines Deepen Strategic Partnership Across Sectors

India and the Philippines want to work more closely together.

Their leaders, Narendra Modi and Ferdinand R Marcos Jr, met on Sunday.

They talked about defence, space, trade and technology.

The meeting happened during the BRICS Summit.

Marcos was attending the summit because the Philippines was the current chair of ASEAN.

Modi welcomed the Philippines joining a group that helps countries prepare for disasters.

The two countries became strategic partners about a year ago.

Their relationship has also grown through a deal for India’s BrahMos missiles to be supplied to the Philippine Navy.
