ECoR Upgrades Electrification System in Sambalpur Division
Imagine train tracks that need electricity to make the trains go.
Right now, the electricity system on some tracks in the Sambalpur area is getting an upgrade.
It's like changing an old TV to a new, super-clear one.
This new system will send electricity more reliably, like having two power lines instead of one.
This means trains, especially the heavy cargo trains carrying coal and minerals, can run better and faster without problems.
It also helps save energy and is better for the environment.
This is part of a big plan by Indian Railways to make all its electricity systems better and more efficient.
East Coast Railway (ECoR) is upgrading its electrification system in the Sambalpur Division.
The project involves upgrading the existing 1 X 25 KV Overhead Electrification (OHE) to a 2 X 25 KV system.
The upgrade covers 153 Route Kilometres and 575 Track Kilometres at an estimated cost of Rs 465.47 crore.
This advanced system will improve power supply stability, reduce losses, and enhance the capacity for running semi-high-speed passenger and heavy freight trains.
The initiative aligns with Indian Railways' nationwide effort to modernize traction systems for greener and more efficient transport solutions.
