Activists Protest SC Aravalli Ruling on Redefinition
Some people are very upset because the Supreme Court made a new rule about the Aravalli hills.
The new rule changes how the hills are defined and allows certain plants and landfills to be built without special permission.
These people think this is bad because it will hurt the environment.
They had a protest to sing a funny song and talk about why they think the new rule is not good.
They want the government to protect the hills instead of letting businesses use them.
Activists and residents protested against the Supreme Court's redefinition of the Aravalli hills and exemption of WTE plants and landfills from environmental clearance.
The protest was organized by Aravalli Bachao and included a satirical song to highlight their concerns.
The Supreme Court accepted the Union Environment Ministry panel's redefinition of the Aravalli hills on 20 November.
Activists argue that the new definition and exemptions will make it easier to open up protected Aravalli land for mining and commercial activity.
Col (retd) SS Oberoi, Managing Trustee of Aravalli Bachao, stated that the conflict between business interests and environmental protection has reached a critical point where the public is losing.
