Kyrgyzstan Parliament Votes for Early Elections in November

Kyrgyzstan Parliament Votes for Early Elections in November

Kyrgyzstan, a country in Central Asia, is having early elections.

The parliament decided to hold the elections sooner than planned, on November 30th.

This is happening because holding both parliamentary and presidential elections close together would be too expensive.

Some experts think this is a way for the current president to strengthen his control before he runs for reelection in 2027.

Kyrgyzstan has seen protests in the past that removed presidents.

Recently, there have been actions that have limited independent media and increased government control.
