Half-Size Statue Of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Unveiled In Latur

A half-size statue of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule was unveiled in Latur to honour his legacy.

Mahatma Phule was a great social reformer who fought for gender equality, education, and against the caste system.

He started India’s first school for girls and marginalised sections, believing that education is the most powerful tool for social change.

The event was held at Majha Ghar, a shelter home near Budhoda village in Ausa, and was attended by many writers, social activists, and local dignitaries.

Dr Nagorao Kumbhar, the chief guest, spoke about the importance of Mahatma Phule’s work in bringing social transformation and the progress of women in various fields.

The unveiling was part of the celebrations for the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule, who, along with her husband, worked tirelessly to instil egalitarian values in society.
