Three years on, JU ragging victim's father seeks CM audience
A 17-year-old student at Jadavpur University in India died on August 9, 2023, after falling from the balcony of his college hostel.
Police said older students harassed him that night, chasing him and treating him badly.
Twelve people were arrested and are now in jail.
But the court case has been moving very slowly for three years.
The boy's father goes to court almost every month, but hearings keep getting delayed.
He has written letters to the government asking for help.
Now he wants to meet the Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari, to ask for a new look at the case.
The father hopes this will finally bring his family peace and closure.
He also worries that no one remembers his son anymore.
A 17-year-old Jadavpur University student died on August 9, 2023, after falling from a hostel balcony amid alleged ragging.
Police said seniors chased the teen for hours, disrobing and abusing him before the fall around 11.45 pm.
Twelve people — six university students and six alumni illegally occupying hostels — were arrested and charged.
The trial has dragged on for three years, with hearings delayed because defence lawyers do not appear; all 12 accused are in jail custody.
The victim's father has written to the government and now seeks a Janta Darbar meeting with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for closure.
