Ukraine Launches Army of Robots to Reduce Battlefield Risks
Ukraine is starting a program called the Army of Robots.
It will create and improve machines that can help soldiers during the war.
These machines may perform jobs that are especially dangerous for people.
They could carry ammunition, help wounded soldiers, explore areas and handle mines.
Some robots may also be used to defend positions or attack targets.
The program will work with defence companies, engineers and the military.
Ukraine plans to test the machines and increase production of the ones that work well.
The project builds on Ukraine’s earlier Army of Drones program.
Its main goal is to save human lives.
Former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the Army of Robots initiative on September 27.
The initiative is designed to develop robotic systems for dangerous missions and reduce risks to human lives.
Planned uses include evacuating wounded soldiers, delivering ammunition, mining, demining, reconnaissance and defending positions.
Ukraine will invest in defence-tech companies, test systems with the military and expand technologies that work on the battlefield.
General Andrii Biletsky said Ukraine is using remotely controlled ground robots, including explosive-laden vehicles, behind enemy lines.
