India Reports Steady Rise in Coal Loading for Power Sector

Coal is being sent to India’s power plants in more train loads.

The number of daily coal train loads rose from 370 to 444 between September 3 and September 6.

The government said this shows a steady improvement in supplies.

Coal India Limited and other producers increased their deliveries.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited made the biggest one-day improvement.

Some power plants still have less than one-quarter of the coal stock they are expected to hold.

The government is watching these plants closely.

It has started corrective measures to improve their coal supplies and support electricity generation.
