Bollywood Celebrates India's 80th Independence Day With Pride and Hope

India has a very special day called Independence Day, celebrated every year on August 15.

A long time ago, on August 15, 1947, India became a free country.

This year, India celebrated being free for 80 years.

Many famous movie stars, who are called Bollywood celebrities, shared messages of joy on social media.

Priyanka Chopra said she is proud of where India has come from and hopeful about where it is headed.

Akshay Kumar wished for hope in every heart and a dream of a better tomorrow, ending with "Jai Hind!"

Anupam Kher said he was born in 1955, eight years after India became free, so he and India "grew up together."

Varun Dhawan reminded everyone that freedom is not given but earned.

Kajol said thank you to the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces for keeping the country safe.

Everyone celebrated with the Indian flag, called the Tricolour, and wishes like "Happy Independence Day."
