Finance Ministry Begins 2027-28 Budget Preparations Amid Economic Uncertainty
The government is starting work on its 2027-28 national budget.
The Finance Ministry will begin meetings on October 12, 2026.
Government departments must submit their financial information before the meetings begin.
Officials will discuss how much money each ministry may receive.
They will prepare estimates for the next budget year and update estimates for the current year.
The Finance Ministry will later set final spending limits.
Tax departments will also provide expected tax and duty collections.

Nirmala Sitharaman will present her 10th consecutive Union Budget.
