Allahabad HC Orders Removal of Madarsa Seal
The Allahabad High Court in Lucknow told the Shrawasti District Minority Welfare Officer to unseal a private madarsa within 24 hours.
The court said that a madarsa cannot be closed just because it is not recognized by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madarsa Education.
The madarsa, named Madarsa Ahle Sunnat Imam Ahmad Raza, had challenged an order that told it to stop operating because it did not have recognition.
The court agreed with the madarsa and ordered the seal to be removed.
The Allahabad High Court directed the removal of a seal from a private madarsa in Shrawasti within 24 hours.
The court stated that non-recognition by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madarsa Education cannot be grounds for shutting down a madarsa.
The judgment was passed by Justice Subhash Vidyarthi in response to a petition filed by Madarsa Ahle Sunnat Imam Ahmad Raza.
The petition challenged an order dated May 1, 2025, from the District Minority Welfare Officer to shut the madarsa for lack of recognition.
The court ruled in favor of the madarsa, ordering the seal to be removed.
