Murshidabad Hands Over Land for India-Bangladesh Border Fencing

Murshidabad Hands Over Land for India-Bangladesh Border Fencing

Murshidabad is a district beside the India-Bangladesh border.

Officials have given the Border Security Force all the land it needs for a fencing project there.

The fencing and road project covers 48.9 kilometres.

In the last step, officials transferred 28.65 acres of land.

This land covers 3.86 kilometres of the border.

Altogether, 362.89 acres have been handed over.

The district magistrate said the process was complete.

The Bharatiya Janata Party says the earlier Trinamool Congress government had delayed the transfer.

The border between India and Bangladesh is 4,096 kilometres long, with 2,217 kilometres passing through Bengal.
