Amit Shah Accuses TMC of Delaying Bengal Border Fencing
Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India, blamed the TMC government in West Bengal for delaying the fencing of the border with Bangladesh.
He said that only Bengal has not completed its part of the fencing work, which is important for stopping people from entering the country illegally.
The government in Bengal says that the delay is because they need to be careful about taking land from farmers and giving them fair compensation.
The issue has become very political, with both sides blaming each other.
The courts are also involved, and the matter will be discussed again soon.
The upcoming elections in Bengal make this issue even more important for both parties.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the TMC government in West Bengal of delaying the fencing of the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Shah claimed that only Bengal has not completed its share of the fencing work, alleging the TMC's reluctance to cooperate with the Centre.
Data from the Ministry of Home Affairs shows that land acquisition for fencing is pending for around 149 km in Bengal.
The delays are attributed to both political obstructions and complexities in land acquisition due to agricultural richness and farmer concerns.
The issue has turned into a political row ahead of the Bengal Assembly elections, with both the BJP and TMC blaming each other.
