Shivpuri Women’s Liquor Shop Protest Turns Violent After Official Intervention

Hundreds of women in Amola village protested against a government liquor shop.

They wanted the shop removed from their neighborhood.

Residents said it was near a school, hospital and Hanuman temple.

They also said the shop had caused problems for about three years.

The protest was peaceful at first.

The situation became tense when police and Excise Department officials arrived.

Officials reportedly used a mild lathi-charge after protesters did not leave.

Some protesters then allegedly attacked officials with stones and sticks.

A video of the incident spread online, but authorities have not given all the details or confirmed whether anyone was arrested.
