MC Davar’s Efforts to Prevent India’s Partition
Imagine a doctor named MC Davar who wanted to stop India from splitting into two countries.
He talked to important leaders and tried to bring Hindus and Muslims together.
He even convinced a powerful man in Punjab to promise that Punjab would stay united.
However, after a fight, the leader had to agree to the split.
Although, the leader still tried to speak out against the partition.
It shows how hard it was to keep everyone together during those times.
MC Davar, inspired by Subhas Chandra Bose, worked to prevent the partition of India and promote Hindu-Muslim unity.
Davar met with Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan, the Punjab Premier, who initially opposed the partition and pledged to keep Punjab united.
Davar presented 26 arguments against the partition to Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan and others, warning of its potential negative consequences.
Despite Hayat Khan's initial opposition, he was pressured to second the Lahore Resolution demanding Pakistan due to the tense atmosphere following a violent incident.
Hayat Khan later reiterated his opposition to the partition in a speech, warning that Muslims would suffer more than others in a divided India.
