Centre: Andaman Islanders Get Benefits Without Cards
The government told the Parliament that some people in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are getting special benefits even if they don't have the special cards that prove they are real islanders.
A local leader asked for a new check to give these cards to more people who might have been left out.
The government said that even without the cards, the right people are getting the benefits.
Eligible Andaman residents receive benefits without Islander cards.
Centre clarified in Parliament in response to MP Bishnu Pada Ray's question.
Ray requested a re-survey and issuance of cards to left-out genuine islanders.
Benefits are meant for genuine islanders of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Government assured that eligible residents are receiving benefits.
