Mercedes-Benz to Raise Prices in India
Mercedes-Benz and BMW, two German car companies, are going to increase the prices of their cars in India.
Mercedes-Benz will raise prices starting next January, and BMW will do the same from next month.
This is because the Indian rupee has become weaker compared to the euro, which makes it more expensive for these companies to sell their cars.
The companies also mentioned that other factors like rising costs and inflation are contributing to the price hike.
The weak rupee is making it hard for these companies to keep their prices the same and still make a profit.
This price increase will make cars more expensive for buyers in India.
Mercedes-Benz India will increase vehicle prices by up to 2% from January 2025 due to the weakening rupee against the euro.
The price correction is necessary to offset sustained forex pressures and rising input costs.
The Euro has been trading over the ₹100 mark, affecting imported components and completely built units.
Despite aggressive localization strategies, a price adjustment is essential to maintain operational sustainability.
BMW India also announced plans to hike vehicle prices from January 2024 due to the weakening rupee.
