India May Raise ₹2 Trillion Through Upcoming IPOs

India’s stock market regulator says companies may raise about ₹2 trillion through IPOs.

An IPO is when a company first sells shares to the public.

So far in FY2026-27, companies have raised about ₹600 billion through IPOs.

About 55% of that money was new funding for the companies, rather than money going only to existing shareholders.

India has about 149 million people investing in its securities markets.

Mutual fund savings have also grown greatly over the past five years.

Companies are raising more money through corporate bonds too.

SEBI wants markets to be easier to use while still protecting investors.
