Parbati Giri Birth Centenary Stamp Proposal Receives Centre’s Support

Parbati Giri was a freedom fighter and social worker from Odisha.

People also called her “Badama.”

She joined India’s freedom movement when she was only 16 years old.

She followed the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi.

She was imprisoned for taking part in the struggle against British rule.

After India became independent, she continued helping people.

She supported women, education, healthcare and underprivileged children.

A lawmaker has asked the Centre to honor her with a postage stamp for her birth centenary, and the proposal received a positive response.
