Delhi HC Denies Parole to Terror Convict
Mohd Ayoub Mir, a man convicted of terrorism, asked the court if he could leave prison temporarily for medical treatment and to see his family.
The court said no.
Even though he is sick and has been in prison a long time, the court was worried he might cause trouble again.
The court considered reports that he tried to stir up trouble when he was previously released on parole.
Therefore, the court decided that keeping him in jail was more important than letting him out, but directed to receive medical care.
Mohd Ayoub Mir sought parole for cancer treatment and to address family issues.
He was convicted in 2004 under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA).
The Delhi High Court denied parole due to security concerns.
The court cited Mir's past activities as a factor in the decision.
The court directed that Mir receives best possible medical care.
