Technical snags disrupt Mumbai local trains, commuters face delays

On Monday, local trains in Mumbai, India, had technical problems and ran late.

Millions of people ride Mumbai's local trains every day.

There were problems on both the Western Railway and Central Railway lines.

On the Western Railway, small track parts called 'points' broke at three different stations.

Because of that, around 45 train trips were cancelled.

On the Central Railway, a piece of wire fell onto the electric wires near Mulund station.

This caused sparks and smoke, which scared people waiting at the station.

Railway workers quickly removed the wire, and trains started moving again after about 24 minutes.

Still, many trains were 20 to 30 minutes late and very crowded.

Officials think the wire fell while workers were doing construction work at the station.
