Spain Fines Elon Musk's X Over Crypto Ads
Imagine X, the social media site, is like a big bulletin board where people can post ads.
Spain has a rule that says if someone wants to advertise something that involves money, like digital coins, they have to prove they are allowed to do so and aren't shady.
X posted ads for a company called Quantum AI that was selling digital coins, but this company wasn't allowed to do that.
Because X didn't check if Quantum AI was okay to advertise, Spain's money police, called the CNMV, gave X a big penalty, like a ticket.
This is because X needs to be more careful about the money-related ads it shows to people in Spain.
Spain's securities regulator (CNMV) fined X 5 million euros for violating financial advertising rules.
The fine is for failing to comply with regulations regarding cryptocurrency and other financial product advertisements.
X promoted ads from an unauthorized company, Quantum AI, which was marketing cryptocurrencies.
The violation is considered 'very serious' and ongoing.
