Rupee Gains Most in Five Years Amid Oil Price Drop, Market Optimism
The Indian rupee had a big day, gaining the most it has in almost five years.
This happened because oil prices went down after reports that Iran and Israel might stop fighting.
A weaker US dollar also helped.
Experts think the rupee will stay between 85.75 and 86.40 against the dollar.
The stock market also went up, and experts have raised their predictions for how much India's economy will grow this year.
Rupee gained 73 paise, its biggest single-day increase in nearly five years, closing at 86.05 against the dollar.
Brent crude oil prices fell 3.19% to $69.20 a barrel following a reported ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
The rupee's rise was supported by a weaker dollar, firm domestic equity markets, and falling crude oil prices.
S&P Global Ratings raised India's GDP growth forecast to 6.5% for the current fiscal year.
The Sensex rose 158.32 points, and the Nifty climbed 72.45 points on Tuesday.
