ED Arrests Punjab Businessman in Drugs Case
A businessman named Abhishek Kumar from Punjab was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for allegedly selling drugs and laundering money.
He was caught selling a lot of special medicine tablets called Tramadol and Alprazolam.
The ED says he made about Rs 3.75 crore from these illegal sales.
He was sent to jail for six days while the court decides what to do next.
The ED also named some other companies that might be involved in this case.
No one from these companies has said anything yet.
Abhishek Kumar, a Punjab-based businessman, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for alleged drugs trafficking and money laundering.
He was accused of selling psychotropic tablets (Tramadol and Alprazolam) and generating illicit funds worth Rs 3.75 crore.
Kumar was sent to a six-day remand by a special PMLA court in Mohali.
The ED alleges that Kumar procured bulk quantities of the tablets and diverted about 75% of the stock out of the books to conceal illegal transactions.
Several wholesalers and retailers, including Biogenetic Drugs, CB Healthcare, and others, were named as suppliers in the case.
