Thane Municipal Corporation to Establish Cluster Development Company
The city of Thane in India wants to fix very old and unsafe buildings that can fall down during heavy rain.
To do this, the city government is creating a new special company to manage the rebuilding work.
The company is called the Thane Cluster Development and Area Improvement Company Limited.
Right now, some rebuilding projects are being handled by another agency called CIDCO, but the city wants to do the rest itself.
This new company will help make decisions faster and get more building projects done at the same time.
The plan needs to be approved by the city council on August 17 first.
After that, the state government has to give its final permission.
Building work has already started in one area called Kisan Nagar, and the city has prepared plans for 51 different renewal projects.
The person who thought of this big project is the Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde.

A detailed proposal for the company's formation will be tabled at the General Body Meeting scheduled for August 17.
The initiative aims to provide safe, legally owned, permanent housing to citizens living in old, dangerous, and unauthorized buildings that pose risks during monsoons.
51 Urban Renewal Plans (URPs) have been prepared, with construction already commenced in Kisan Nagar and pre-development work underway elsewhere.
While CIDCO is executing certain cluster plans, the new company will handle remaining layouts, with the Municipal Commissioner empowered to decide which plans it executes.
