Vedanta to spin off realty arm as Q1 profit soars
Vedanta, a big mining company in India, decided to split off its real estate holdings into a new company called Vedanta Property Platforms.
This move is meant to make the company more focused and to bring out more value from its land and buildings.
In the first quarter of its 2027 financial year, Vedanta made a profit of 5,473 crore rupees, which is 72% higher than the same period last year.
The company’s sales grew a lot because metal prices were high and the rupee was weaker.
Shareholders will get one new share for every 20 old shares they own.
The split is expected to increase the total market value of the companies by more than 71,000 crore rupees.
Vedanta approved demerging its real estate assets into Vedanta Property Platforms (VPPL).
Q1 FY27 net profit rose 71.8% to Rs 5,473 crore, with revenue up 53.6%.
The portfolio includes about 2,200 acres of industrial land and 55,000 sq ft of residential/commercial space across five Indian states.
Shareholders will receive one VPPL share for every 20 Vedanta shares held.
The demerger increased the combined market capitalization of the resulting companies by over Rs 71,000 crore in Q1.
