Twelve Bangladeshi Nationals Apprehended in Assam; Trafficking Suspected

Authorities in Assam apprehended 12 people from Bangladesh in Goalpara district.

The group included nine adults and three children.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said they told authorities that a broker brought them into India through Meghalaya.

The group said they were promised jobs in Guwahati.

Sarma said the broker allegedly took money and a phone from them before leaving.

A local person spotted the group wandering and crying in panic on Friday night.

Officials suspect the case may involve human trafficking and illegal migration.

Authorities are investigating what happened.
