Bengal Promises Transparent Teacher Recruitment After SSC Panel Scrapped

Bengal Promises Transparent Teacher Recruitment After SSC Panel Scrapped

West Bengal says it wants to choose teachers in a fairer way.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said exam merit will be the most important factor.

He also said interviews should count for no more than five marks.

Information about the process will be posted on an official website instead of being sent by text message.

The government removed an old School Service Commission panel that it described as affected by corruption and politics.

A court had cancelled the jobs of 25,753 candidates.

The Supreme Court gave the state until May 30, 2027, to hold a new recruitment test for those candidates.

Adhikari also asked parents to reduce children’s mobile-phone use because it can affect their health and studies.
