High Court stays proceedings against former Chhattisgarh CM Baghel
A video that people said showed a minister was found in 2017.
The video was used to accuse former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel of wrongdoing.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) first let Baghel go, but later changed its mind and asked a court to charge him.
Baghel’s lawyer asked the High Court to stop the court from moving forward while Baghel’s appeal was being considered.
The High Court agreed and put a pause on the case.
The case will be heard again in September.
The whole thing shows how politics and law can clash in India.
High Court stayed further proceedings in the 2017 sleaze CD case against former CM Bhupesh Baghel.
The stay follows a CBI revision that set aside Baghel’s earlier discharge.
Baghel’s counsel argued the revision exceeded its jurisdiction and was unsustainable.
CBI counsel maintained the revision was correct after reviewing the record.
The stay will remain until the High Court issues further orders, with a hearing scheduled for September.
