Tollywood producer admits box office collection numbers are inflated

Tollywood producer admits box office collection numbers are inflated
‘Box office collections are inflated,’ admits producer Naga Vamsi: ‘Why publish correct ones?’ · indianexpress.com

Producer Naga Vamsi makes Telugu movies, which are very popular with many fans.

Movie companies often put up posters that say how much money a movie earned.

Naga Vamsi said these numbers are not always exact.

He admitted that movie companies usually make the numbers a little bigger.

He said they do this to make fans happy, not to trick people.

He said if a movie really earns Rs 100, the company might say Rs 110.

He also said they do not tell very big lies, like saying Rs 200 for a Rs 100 movie.

Other companies that count movie earnings sometimes report different, smaller numbers.

For example, one movie was said to have earned Rs 56 crore on its first day, but a tracker counted about Rs 41 crore.

So the numbers on posters and the real numbers are often not the same.
